EICN Africa: Regional Strategic Forecast 2023

The end of 2023 has seen the global economy face a series of risky scenarios. Changes in the geopolitical landscape have seen supply chains shift, new alliances form, and the BRICS-bloc appear poised to take a leading role in moving the global economy forward.

On top of this, South Africa faces down the 2024 general election next year. Faced with a stagnant economy, the probability of a national coalition government ruling the country is the highest it has been since the dawn of democracy. The prospects of a coalition government presents many scenarios, both positive and negative, and understanding who will be holding the keys to government come next year will be critical for business planning.

In our flagship event, we hear from EIU Global Chief Economist Dr Simon Baptist, who will update us on the state of the global economy. Following this, we bring together prominent business leaders, political analysts and society leaders to discuss how South Africa fits in the global economic picture, and why next years election may change the game. This event is critical for any C-suite needing to understand the rapidly evolving landscape and adequately prepare for 2024 and what may be our most significant year for business in the past 30 years.
