Dr. Guoxiong Zhang is the Director of the Economist Corporate Network in Shanghai, China. He is responsible for creating and delivering the Economist Corporate Network programmes and services in Shanghai. He also advises senior executives from member companies about the economic trends and policy interpretations in China.
Before joining The EIU, Dr. Zhang was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Visiting Scholar at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. He has extensive research experience on the Chinese economy, from both academic and policy perspectives. His research has been presented at numerous international academic conferences and published in several prominent academic journals. At Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Dr. Zhang taught macroeconomics and finance.
Dr. Guoxiong Zhang holds a PhD in Economics, a MS in Statistics, and a MA in Economics from the University of California, Irvine. His PhD dissertation was about the intrinsic link between trade liberalization and capital flows. Dr. Zhang also holds a BA in Economics from Zhejiang University.
