Biography

Tom is a Beijing-based analyst for The Economist Intelligence Unit, focusing on the complex changes that China’s economy and politics are undergoing. He is responsible for the EIU’s day-to-day analysis of developments in China, evaluating their significance for clients, and devises the forecasts that underpin the EIU’s flagship reports for the country. Tom also contributes to coverage of other major economies in Asia and works with the EIU's Access China service, which offers unrivalled analytical coverage of China’s provinces and cities. He is a frequent commentator in the international media and gives regular presentations to clients, as well as at external conferences and seminars.
